DENTURES

At Perfect Hollywood Smile, one of the many dental services we provide is the making and fitting of full and partial dentures.  Whether you’re missing a few teeth or have lost them all, we can restore your smile with a full or partial set.  They will have been customized to fit your mouth, and made to look like your natural teeth in the process.  Contrary to popular belief, dentures are not the unpleasant dental prosthetic that they once were.  Unlike those dental appliances from the past, today’s dentures do not hinder your ability to chew, laugh, smile, or speak normally.

More About Dentures

When we replace your teeth with dentures here at Perfect Hollywood Smile, they are held in place by pressing around the gum tissues and jaw bone remaining along your dental arch.  However, you can use denture adhesives to provide additional stability if you desire.  You’ll be able to smile with confidence once again, as well as chew your food and speak just like you could before losing all your teeth.  This is attributed to the many advancements that we have seen in dental technologies over the past 20 years.

Full vs. Partial Dentures

Just as the names imply, dentures can be made in full sets to accommodate the lower and upper jaw or as partials for those who are missing some teeth, but not all.  Although dental implants are a more permanent alternative, they are far more costly than full or partial dentures, and are not for everybody.  Naturally, they will take some getting used to initially, and you may have to come in for the occasional adjustment.  But, that is just part of the process and completely normal.  After all, one of the goals at Perfect Hollywood Smile is that your dentures feel natural and fit comfortably.

Who is a Suitable Candidate for Dentures?

Ideally, the best candidates for dentures are those individuals who have experienced partial or total tooth loss.  They should still have sufficient healthy gum tissue and jaw bone structure in place for these dental appliances to grasp onto.  However, it is also important that, as our patient, you have realistic and reasonable expectation about them.  And, that you know how they must be cared for.  We will provide you with instructions regarding their care and maintenance once you have been fitted with your dentures.

Another key factor that helps the dentists at Perfect Hollywood Smile determine if you’re a good candidate is the nature and extent of your tooth loss.  This isn’t just relegated to full or partial dentures.  For instance, if you’re only missing 2 or 3 teeth, a dental bridge may be a better option.  These dental appliances fill any gaps that are created by a missing tooth or teeth.  And, are usually attached to the remaining teeth on either side of the space.  With plenty of advancements in dental technology, it is easy to have a full set of teeth and maintain your confidence.

Dentures Anchored by Implants

Another option to consider is dentures that are secured by using dental implants to hold them in place.  Implants serve as tooth roots and are surgically placed into the gum tissue and jaw bone.  However, there must be sufficient gum and bone density (mass). As well, the person must be a suitable candidate for an oral surgical procedure.
